Former NFL running back Alex Collins, who played five seasons in the league, has passed away. He was 28 years old. According to the Broward County Sheriff's Office,

Collins was killed in a fatal accident involving a motorcycle and vehicle in Lake Lauderdale, Florida, and the accident is still under investigation. 

The incident took place on Sunday night at 10:20 pm. Broward County deputies pronounced Atty and Collins dead at the scene. Collins will turn 29 on August 26.

Collins was selected in the fifth round in the 2016 NFL Draft by the Seattle Seahawks out of Arkansas. Collins played three seasons (2016, 2020–21) in Seattle and two (2017–18) in Baltimore.

Collins enjoyed his best NFL season with the Ravens, when he rushed for a career-high 973 yards (averaging 4.6 yards per carry) and scored six touchdowns in 2017. He followed that up in 2018 by scoring a career-high eight touchdowns. 

Finished his career with 1,997 rushing yards and 19 touchdowns (18 via rushing). Collins most recently played for the Memphis Showboats of the USFL in 2023.
